How to fix NO DEVICE ERROR in ADB whiile ADB SIDELOAD

Hey guys,
While reverting back to stock ROM on Zenfone 5, many of you have faced a very common issue of “NO DEVICE FOUND”, when you select the ADB SIDELOAD option in the stock recovery. Among those who faced, were being helped by us, but due to high traffic about this issue, we are creating this post.

So first start with connecting your device with USB DEBUGGING ENABLED.

NOTE : Before following these steps, GO to RECOVERY on your phone, connect your phone with the computer, select “APPLY VIA ADB SIDELOAD”.

Now, download the ADB DRIVERS from HERE

After installing this ADB, it will automatically detect your device and it will download the drivers for your phone itself. This is an automatic solution for your Zenfone 5. Although, this procedure is not reliable because, when your phone is in recovery mode, then it hardly communicates automatically with the computer. So you can give it a try, but I will recommend for the manual method

Now there’s a manual solution for this too. In the fastboot command prompt, type this command to see if your device is connected or not.

                                                             adb devices
If you are new to these things, it will not show any device. So to fix that, follow these steps :

  1. Right click on the “MY COMPUTER/THIS PC”
  2. Click on the option “MANAGE”
  3. In the left panel, click on the “DEVICE MANAGER”
  4. Look for the “ANDROID” with a YELLOW EXCLAMATORY MARK on it.
  5. Right click on that, and click on “UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE”.
  6. Then Click on the “BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER SOFTWARE”
  7. Afterwards, click on “LET ME PICK A LIST OF DEVICE DRIVERS FROM MY COMPUTER”
  8. Now once you click on it, in the left panel, you will see “ASUS ANDROID PHONE”. Select that and in the parallel side, you will different options. Among them, select “ANDROID ADB SIDELOAD INTERFACE”.
  9. Select “YES” from the warning. Then click ok. And then FINISH.

Now after all this, get back to the Fastboot command prompt, and type the same command, i.e adb devices, to see if it detects your phone or not. After typing the command, press the enter key, and you will see your device is connected now.

After all these steps, once you get confirmed that your device is connected, type the “ADB SiDELOAD”  command and flash the ROM.

So this is it. That’s all you have to do if you face his kind of problem. If you have any query related to this post, you can ask us on our Facebook Page. Also, you can review our work so that we can improve ourselves.
